Baystate Health, home of the University of Massachusetts Medical School-Baystate, is offering an opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Resident to join Baystate Health’s Division of Hospital Medicine in Western MA.
The Hospital Medicine program provides inpatient care to all patients admitted to Baystate Health hospitals. The PA/NP resident (AP resident) works and trains alongside the hospitalists and internal medicine residents in an intense, 6 months of didactic and clinical training designed to provide the individual with hands on experience and training in order to become fully competent in all domains necessary to safely care for our high acuity patients.
The AP residents will not have their own patient assignments during the 6 month program; they will follow hospitalists’ patients during their inpatient rotations. The AP residents will also be trained in cross cover and 3 way call from the Emergency Department.
The primary objective of this program is to prepare physician assistants and nurse practitioners for a career in hospital medicine as competent, highly functioning members of the hospital medicine healthcare team and to provide physician assistants and nurse practitioners with further education and specialized clinical and professional experience. Upon satisfactory completion of the 6 month training program, the AP will move into a full AP role in Hospital Medicine.
The successful incumbent will have completed an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program have obtained MSN or MPAS degree, and have a Massachusetts license to practice or eligible.
