Baystate Health, western Massachusetts’ premier healthcare provider and home to the University of Massachusetts Medical School – Baystate, invites applications for the position of Division Chief of Orthopedic Medicine.
We offer the emerging or experienced leader a unique opportunity to advance the mission of our health system to develop a robust community orthopedic program.
Key components of the Chief position:
• Lead our initiative to integrate our established community orthopedic practices into a robust and growing regional program. The program will include 3 community hospitals as well as satellite clinics in western MA.
• Provide strategic and clinical direction to our 4 employed orthopedic surgeons and a physician assistant.
• Strong support from Baystate’s Chair of the Dept. of Surgery and regional Chief Medical Officers.
• Collaboration with the area’s large private orthopedic practice which consists of 40 orthopedic surgeons and APPs who provide sub-specialized comprehensive care and trauma coverage at Baystate Medical Center.
• Position is based out of Baystate Franklin Medical Center (BFMC) in Greenfield MA. BFMC is a 89 bed hospital with state-of-the-art OR’s which opened in 2016, as well as great access to primary care, top-of-the-line equipment, in-office imaging, PT and specialists. Rehab and sports medicine are onsite.

Qualifications:
• 5+ years of post-training experience with evidence of progressive management and leadership responsibilities.
• A strong record of collaboration; must possess the ability to engage a broad base of potential stakeholders to work towards a shared vision.
•BC orthopedic surgery. Interest in sport surgery medicine is desirable.

Baystate Franklin Medical Center (BFMC), a 90-bed and 20 bassinet community hospital in Greenfield, MA, has been serving the health needs of area residents since 1895. Growing steadily, Baystate Franklin Medical Center has recently completed the expansion and renovation of its Emergency Department, Radiology, the Intensive Care Unit and medical-surgical areas, as well as new operating rooms.
BFMC also received “A” grades from Leapfrog Group on its Hospital Safety Score and earned a Get With The Guidelines®—Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.

Known for its charming, locally owned shops on Main Street and easy access to Interstate 91, Greenfield is a midsized city (population 17,400) with affordable historic houses and a booming arts community. Greenfield has been a center for environmental activity, with many area residents advocating for clean energy, locally grown food and sustainable communities. The region is home to Greenfield Community College and excellent private schools such as Stoneleigh-Burnham School and Northfield Mount Hermon in nearby Gill, and Deerfield Academy in nearby Deerfield. Within 20 minutes of BFMC is an array of beautiful towns such as Greenfield, Conway, Deerfield, Amherst, Northampton. The Vermont and New Hampshire boarders are 20 minutes north, making Brattleboro VT and Keene NH easily commutable.
