ADVANCED PRACTITONER LEADERSHIP POSITION

DEPARTMENT OF PEDIATRICS

Baystate Children’s Hospital is the leading provider of general and specialty pediatric services in western Massachusetts, providing advanced medical care to babies, children, and adolescents in an environment that focuses exclusively on the needs of children and families. The 110-bed facility provides complete critical care programs, including the region’s only Pediatric Intensive Care and Neonatal Intensive Care Units, as well as pediatric inpatient services, child life specialists, a designated emergency room just for kids, and outpatient specialty services. Additionally, Baystate Children’s Specialty Center houses 15 pediatric specialty services under one roof, with focus on care coordination, comfort and convenience for children and families. We seek a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant NICU with leadership experience to directly supervise the NICU APs and serve as lead for 5 other pediatric APs in the Department of Pediatrics.

Position Highlights –

• TEAM-FOCUSED: Join our team of 7 neonatologists, 3 neonatal hospitalists and 11 advanced practitioners in our busy 53-bed Level III NICU. Provide medical management of high risk infants and attend high-risk births in our very busy NICU/Continuing Care Nursery.
• LEADERSHIP: Directly supervise and train NICU APs and be a leader for APs throughout the Dept. of Pediatrics. As a part of our AP Advisory Board, you will work closely with our Director of APs to communicate system information to your team, as well as voice ideas and issues from your team to top leadership.
• ACADEMICS & RESEARCH: Participate in the education of pediatric residents, medical students, and NP and PA students. Opportunity and encouragement to be involved in quality improvement and research activities.

Qualifications: 5+ years in a Level III or IV NICU with leadership experience and demonstrated commitment to team building and quality improvement. We seek a driven, creative and flexible leader to help us shape this new leadership role.

Baystate Children’s Hospital

Baystate Children’s Hospital (BCH) is a hospital-within-a-hospital at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA, and the only accredited children’s hospital in the region delivering a higher level of care to infants, children and adolescents. Equipped with 110 beds, including 57 bassinettes and the most advanced medical technologies, BCH provides more than 50 inpatient and outpatient services including children’s primary care, as well as subspecialties including behavioral medicine, cardiac care, diabetes, endocrinology, gastroenterology, nutrition, genetics, infectious diseases, pulmonology, neurology and surgical services. Additional pediatric conditions such as dermatology, rheumatology, weight management and eating disorders are also treated at BCH.

Baystate Children’s Specialty Center, located in Springfield, is home to 13 outpatient clinics. The new state-of-the-art building was designed specifically to enhance the patient experience, from its warm and colorful waiting room to the exam rooms designed to encourage excellent multi-specialty collaboration.

Additionally, BCH is a proud partner of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, and features a unique Specialty Center. The Specialty Center is more like a children’s museum and colorful playhouse, enabling us to provide compassionate care in a more comfortable and engaging environment.
