With the introduction of the Population-based Urban and Rural Community Health (PURCH) program at UMMS-Baystate, UMMS plans to increase its total class size from 137 students to 162 per year over the next two academic years. PURCH students will take basic science courses at the Worcester campus and both receive an augmented curriculum on population health and complete their clinical requirements at the UMMS-Baystate campus. PURCH will provide clinical and clerkship opportunities for students who would like to benefit from UMMS-Baystate’s wide range of clinical settings, as well as its expertise in population health and clinical effectiveness research.
