Baystate Health, an award–winning healthcare system and home of the University of Massachusetts Medical School-Baystate, is searching for an outstanding candidate to join Baystate Medical Center, as Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases.
• The candidate will lead an experienced team of 10 physicians and 2 advanced practice providers overseeing a comprehensive clinical ID program involving inpatient consultation services at the main Baystate facilities and other community facilities, outpatient ID clinics, an established multidisciplinary antimicrobial Stewardship program, a hospital epidemiology program, a Ryan White–funded HIV clinic, a multidisciplinary hepatitis clinic, and a travel medicine clinic. In addition, the division has a clinical research unit that includes clinical trials in HIV, hepatitis C, and influenza, and vaccines.
• The ID Division has its own fellowship program and provides core teaching to the Internal Medicine and Med-Peds residents, as well as ID pharmacy residents. Faculty appointment to UMass Medical School-Baystate commensurate with experience and accomplishments. The successful candidate should qualify for appointment as an Associate or full Professor.
The ideal candidate should be nationally or regionally recognized with the ability to lead a high volume and growing program. Candidates should have outstanding clinical and teaching skills, and experience in an academic infectious disease program. Preference will be given to those candidates with a track record of success in clinical research and who can help mentor others to be successful researchers. The candidate will be expected to have a strategic vision for role of the ID division in a rapidly changing medical landscape and should possess a working knowledge of alternative payment models. The ideal candidate will have experience with a regionally integrated ID division within a large health system.
