Certified Nurse Midwife Opportunity

Baystate Health, western Massachusetts’ premier healthcare provider and home to the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School – Baystate, is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife to join our organization.

Position Highlights –

• Join our team of 17 experienced CNMs who provide full scope care to patients with diverse clinical needs. Our Midwifery division is dedicated to addressing racial disparities in maternal and infant health, bias in healthcare, health equity, and providing evidence-based care through shared decision making with patients and families.
• Our midwifery-led, full-scope, independent practice conducts over 500 births a year at Baystate Medical Center (BMC), BMC is a Level 3 Perinatal Center, and the Obstetric Service conducts approximately 4,300 births a year.
• Ambulatory care occurs in 7 outpatient sites, including two neighborhood health centers, an FQHC, and an area women’s correctional facility.
• Enjoy strong midwifery-physician collaboration providing culturally responsive, patient-centered care with a strong focus on health equity. Subspecialty support includes Maternal Fetal Medicine, Reproductive Endocrinology, Urogynecology, Gynecologic Oncology, Family Planning, Pediatric and Adolescent gynecology and General Obstetrics and Gynecology.
• CNMs are full members of the medical staff of Baystate Medical Center. CNMs in Massachusetts are recognized as independent practitioners with no supervisory language in statute.
• Joint Faculty appointment to Baystate Midwifery Education Program: One of 42 ACME accredited CNM/CM education programs in the country. Celebrating its 30th year, the Program has graduated over 125 CNMs and has contributed 25% of the area CNM workforce.
• This position is a .8 FTE (32 hours/week). Eligible for Full Time health insurance benefits.

Baystate Midwifery and Women’s Health has been recognized nationally as a model of collaborative practice between CNMs and physicians, and for developing the role of CNMs as Laborists. Many of the CNMs in the Division of Midwifery have expanded practice in many areas, such as ultrasound, circumcision, colposcopy, correctional health, pelvic pain, and sexual wellness.

Qualifications: Board certified by the AMCB. Strong interest in working with student learners and a commitment to collaboration, courage, quality and lifelong learning is important. Bilingual (Spanish) is helpful.
